The Good Stuff
Lobster rolls and running belts
Lobster Rolls
I hadn’t had one for a long time. Visiting a friend in Boston this past week, it was the one thing I compounded for.
I live in Charleston, which is home to many brilliant chefs who have devised complex combinations of ingredients and flavors. Sometimes that’s a real pleasure, particularly when you are sharing a long, leisurely meal with good company.
But there is also a real pleasure in simple things – in this case, fresh lobster served on a toasted split-top bun with hot butter. A single high-quality ingredient with the simplest accompaniment, like a well-prepared cut of high quality beef with bearnaise sauce.
My friend was puzzled that you can’t get lobster rolls in Charleston; they must like cold water habitats. Shrimp is our local shellfish.
In any case: thank you, Rennie –

Running Belts
I run regularly (typically a 5k daily, Monday through Friday) and have written before about some of the things I use when I run, including socks and earbuds. But one of the most important pieces I have when I run outside is a running belt. When I started running several years ago, I couldn’t figure out what to do with my phone. Carry it in sweaty hands? Nope. I tried an arm wrap with a case, but that was really awkward. Then my mom gave me a running belt that she used.
The belt, by sport2people (or however they write their name) is really simple but effective. I had assume the weight of the phone would make the belt move up and down constantly, but actually it doesn’t move much at all. If you run regularly and need a solution for taking your phone with you, I’ve been using this belt for years and highly recommend it.
