Yes—agree—AI is helpful for basic searching/info/even a how-to. However, as an author, it makes me cringe to submit something and have to add a disclaimer that I didn't use AI (ugh). There will never be anything that out-thinks a human brain working at its finest! We have everything we need to think, reason, create, and produce, and as long as we do our part to steward it, our brains can create new pathways, which allow them to continue learning, developing, and growing. If we rely on AI to do all of those things, we will see a significant decline in society and lose the ability as humans to think independently. I'm not sure how to do it, but those of us who actually know how to use an em dash are going to have to encourage those who, in their desire to take the easy way out, will create problems not only for themselves but also for the future of all things creative.

Completely. Im planning on (as non-confrontationally as possible) ask people not to use AI for anything other than searches in any meetings I lead. I would rather have their worst ideas than Chat’s best.

Agree and would add, when used for creative purposes, it makes us less human.

Oh absolutely. I keep having to edit my posts on AI to make them less angry-sounding, but at some point I’m going to write about the ways I’ve seen in which AI is anti-human.

As someone who works with a lot of kids, I have noticed the ability to think through things diminishing because they rely on AI for answers. It’s even worse though for children because they aren’t even learning what it feels like to have to critically think through hard problems. At least we as adults have had to at some point in our lives and have those experiences.

Yes, this is something I’m very concerned about - the inability to think at all. As you say, at least adults can relearn such things, but what does it mean to have a generation of young adults who didn’t learn it in the first place?

Thank you, for keeping us on the right mind track. I have used AI, occasionally to check, on a date or something similar, but I have no intentions of using AI to take my original thoughts away from me. As long as I have a functioning brain I am going to use it

I've used it in travel planning. For example: what are some top things to do in Budapest?

I think that’s great - definitely in the “enhanced Google search” territory I mention. It’s incredibly helpful to be able to ask follow ups to questions like, “what do people like about the top three things in the list you gave me” or “how much time would it take to do those three things if I’m there for a few days?” Google has ruined its own search, which means that while I previously could have figured out the answers to those questions with a bit of work, now it’s just impossible. AI is great for search queries and follow ups

Yes in the past I would have used Google but this is better I think.
